Solving Wastewater Challenges for Commercial Laundries with HyDAF Technology
December 12, 2024
Commercial laundries provide services to a wide range of industry sectors including hospitals, hotels, resorts, factories and aged care.
Typical laundry wastewater contains organics, high pH, high levels of turbidity and phosphorous. It also contains amounts of colouring agents, surfactants, detergents and fragrances.
Commercial washers that are used in the wash rooms are larger and more sophisticated than domestic units we use at home. These commercial units can run continuously, handle a significantly larger volume and can be programmed to suit fabric types and levels of dirtiness.
“We cover a large range of industrial applications in terms of wastewater treatment. Each industry generates wastewater with different characteristics. The key is to understand the process upstream within the factory to deal with everyday production and for some industries, cleaning in place and washdown.
Commercial laundries produce an alkaline wastewater that requires chemical treatment and solids separation prior to sewer discharge for example. It’s amazing to see our HyDAF technology in so many industrial applications. The results for commercial laundries were impressive and were well under trade waste limits in terms of suspended solids” says John Koumoukelis, CEO of Hydroflux.
