Being Climate Neutral – What It Means for our Clients
April 1, 2022
Our philosophy as a business is to be at the forefront so we can meet expectations ahead of time. It’s important that we are able to provide an emissions profile for the systems we design and the equipment we provide.
Being carbon neutral means you can partner with us without increasing your emissions.
Hydroflux is across new technology such as methods of removing the nutrients from anaerobic sludges (and in fact recovering them as pure fertilisers), plus improvements in sludge digestion and the need to lower power consumption, reduce trucking and produce renewable Bioenergy.
This could be something like an ultra-efficient aeration system that uses significantly less power to treat wastewater to onsite sludge drying, to fine screens that greatly increase biogas production in a sewage plant to biosolids incineration which greatly reduces trucking distances and provides renewable energy and phosphate fertilisers.
We see our role as letting our clients know what’s possible. A lot of work still needs to be done in comparing the embedded carbon versus operational emissions over the project lifespan– for example a lower embedded carbon piece of infrastructure might mean higher operational emissions in the years to come, or that it might need to be replaced more often, negating the benefit.
The same can be said of building infrastructure with a large construction-related carbon footprint to achieve minor reductions in operational emissions.
Hydroflux can assist in identifying the most optimal design and equipment selections decisions assisting clients meet their immediate and long term carbon emissions targets.
About Climate Active
Climate Active is Australia’s initiative for climate action. It was established to grow awareness of a carbon-neutral certification and to promote positive action on climate change. Its vision is to counter climate change with emissions reductions and offsets. As a partnership between Australian Government (administered by the Commonwealth Government, Dept of Industry, Science, Energy and Resource) it is the most credible way to prove a carbon neutral claim.
